Norfolk Pest Control

Norfolk is a great place to go wildlife spotting - with areas such as the Norfolk Broads and the large amount of coastline, there are so many occasions to be able to see badgers, seals, birds and other rare animals.

However, for Norfolk residents, there can be a more irritating problem - pests! Because Norfolk has a large amount of wetland mosquitoes can tend to be a larger problem than other parts of the country. Mosquitoes need water in order to reproduce so they are much more likely to look to make their homes near rivers and lakes. The Norfolk Broads is perfect for mosquitoes especially on humid days.

Norfolk also has a large amount of woodland. Recently in the press, there has been a raging debate over whether badgers should be considered pests and culled. This because there have been some links to badgers and bovine TB - where the badgers are spreading the disease and then farmers lose a large amount of their cattle and therefore their income. With the high numbers of farmers living in Norfolk, this is a hot topic as the farmers need to make their living. However, up until now, badgers have been a protected species although the law does allow some flexibilities around this.

For the same reasons as the high numbers of badgers, there are also a large amount of rats and mice in the Norfolk countryside which can be a problem for people living outside of cities. The best way to prevent rats from coming into your home is to not give them a reason to - don't leave food out and always put your bin bag in a protected bin outside. Rats are not fussy and will eat from the floor and try to rip apart bin bags to get food out. You can also try clearing away hedges and other foliage from around your house as this is the perfect place for a rat or mouse to hide out and make its home.

If you live in Norfolk and have a pest problem that is too large to handle, it is recommended that you contact an experienced pest control specialist. They will not only be able to rid you of the current problem, but also recommend ways in which you can stop the problem to reoccurring in the future. It might seem like a large upfront cost, but in the long run it could save you a lot of time and energy.
